Parent Involvement

Parent Involvement

At TIMS, parents are not bystanders — they are members. As a registered parent association (e.V.), every family that enrols a child at TIMS automatically becomes a member of the organisation, with a voice in how the school is run and a role in its daily life.

Governance & Membership

TIMS is governed by its parent association. Members attend annual general meetings, vote on key decisions, and elect the board. This structure ensures that TIMS remains genuinely family-led, responsive to the community it serves, and focused on what matters most: the children.

Volunteering

There are many ways to contribute beyond governance. Parents volunteer in the garden, help at cultural events and celebrations, support holiday camps, and assist the teaching team with special projects. Every contribution — large or small — is valued and makes a real difference.

Cultural Events

Parents from our 20+ nationalities are invited to share their cultural traditions — bringing food, stories, music, and customs to our celebrations of Diwali, Hanukkah, Lunar New Year, Thanksgiving, and more.

Community Gatherings

Regular coffee mornings, summer barbecues, and holiday concerts give parents and educators a chance to connect beyond school hours, building the friendships that make TIMS feel like a family.

Staying Informed

Parents receive regular updates through the school newsletter and have access to the parent portal. Our open-door policy means you can always speak directly with teachers about your child's progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to be a member of the parent association?
You have a vote at annual general meetings, can stand for election to the board, and are invited to participate in decisions about the school's direction. It is a meaningful involvement, not a formality.
How can I find out about upcoming volunteer opportunities?
Check the school newsletter, the parent portal, or simply contact the school office. We are always grateful for willing hands and fresh ideas.
Do I need to speak German to participate?
No. TIMS operates in English and our community is multilingual. All parents, regardless of German proficiency, are fully welcome to participate in every aspect of school life.
How much time is expected of parents?
There is no mandatory minimum. Some parents are deeply involved; others contribute in smaller ways. Every level of engagement is appreciated.
